one more small thing…

My first generation Titanium Powerbook has seen its days. It has served me well.

But I hold a deep, dark(?) secret. I have been wishing an iBook for a long time… only because it was compact and sturdy, but I was not willing to sacrifce my G4 for a G3. Woe was me. I have had to handle my Ti very carefully, be sure no one breathed heavily on it, and basically treated it like it was my first born child.

Ah, but with the announcement of the drool-worthy new PowerBooks, I am in a funk no longer. I’m really tempted by the 12″ BTO with a SuperDrive.

Ah, Titanium. You have served me well. Now it’s time for your younger, more powerful sibling to take the throne.

I *just* paid off my Apple Loan from the Ti, too. The loud sucking sound that is Apple taking my money away shall continue. I think I’m gonna sell the Ti (which, I will add, has a year of AppleCare left on it)… if you’re interested, do let me know.

Am I such a geek to get all giddy at the sight of Steve digging that baby out earlier today?

Answer: Yes.

Man oh man! You are the American consumer oh Chick of Geekness. Not more than 10 hours after announcing the new Powerbook and you are all ready to buy one!!! :-)

Yes, I have been known to rant about consumerism.

You’ve found my weakness. The only reason you can call me a hypocrite. But it’s a GOOD reason, right? Geeky stuff is okay, right? RIGHT? ;)

I bought my Ti a mere couple of hours after the MWSF ’01 Keynote.

anyway, i have a original tibook too…i still think it’s the shiznit. but i see my next purchase reaching big proportions. 17 inch proportions if you get my drift! 2004 is gonna be a good year for me!

I’m thinking about getting my first Mac and leaning towards the G4 15.2″ job…are they really as fragile as you make them out to be? I’m going to grad school in the fall and I want something I can lug around to classes, library, etc. I was think the new 12″ model, but I just went to an Apple Store, checked out the 12″ iBook, and decided that screen was just way to small for me.

  • Jack says:

the 15″ powermac model is not as fragile as she makes it seem.

invest in 1 quality sleeve and you’re set. i was a student in spring 2001 when i bought mine. it still is running perfect, despite the abuse.

they just dropped the price too. i highly reccomend it.

    Thanks Jack.

I have a good sleeve, but I still think my Ti is pretty fragile. If you take normal precautions, you’ll be just fine, but be careful about having it bonking around in your backpack and taking in and out of your bag often. I dropped it from about 3 feet while in its sleeve, and there was some body damage… but AppleCare took care of it :)

  • Jack says:

http://sfbags.com is where i got my sleeve. it’s pretty thick, so i’ve never felt like it was in danger in my bag. :)

but what i used to do was just close it (sleep mode) and carry it in by hand like a book from class to wherever. it’s just the perfect weight in which you feel comfy handling it like that.
