I visited my family yesterday after work, since this particular job is in the East Bay. It’s pretty nice to get to see them on a regular basis… sure beats being three thousand miles away, that’s for sure.
I did get to see my brother’s new Windows box, which is pretty sweet. It was about darned time that they upgraded, because my family usually waits at least 5 years before upgrading. The horror! It certainly made him pretty happy, especially since it resides in his room.
When I went to take a look at it, he was playing Command and Conquer Generals. This was basically my first look at the game in play. It made me gripe again about the a big issue I have with the mac platform… we have an extreme lack of games available for our platform. Bah. What to do?
Well, at least we have a windows machine here that is used solely for gaming. But I think it’s due for an upgrade or two.
*sigh* I’ll just go play Tropico for a little while…

…and I can dance to it.
I’ve just spent way too much time at Overclocked Remix listening to remixes of my favorite video/console/computer/arcade games of yesteryear and today.
Some of them are really good, and suprisingly enough, not all of them are techno remixes! Try this StarTropics mix or this pretty ingenious Sims mix using the sim dialogue (“Simlish”) as its base.
I wish they had more (or ANY) Amiga, Commodore 64, Colecovision and Atari 2600 songs… ah well, can’t be choosy!
This is certainly fun stuff, and it brings back some good memories of games past.
What were your favorite video games as a kid?

Wow, playing TSO has taken up a lot of my time, but I have managed to keep things in check… my school work is doing fine, my freelance work is alright, and my home life is not abandoned.
…Yet.
Just kidding.
Funny that for a while there, I was investing more time in my sim’s virtual life than my own real one. Yes, the true sign of a geek.
Tomorrow is my first Sims Meetup (yes, something similar to Blog Meetup). Hoping to meet some more cool people and, as they say in the islands, “Talk Story”. I really like the whole meetup thing, it’s been really awesome so far. Highly recommended way to meet new people with similar interest!
Anyone else out there play TSO? If not, what game is currently eating your life away?

Rock on. Those of you who are fans of The Sims, or would like to be, skits has created a blogger neighborhood for us, where the sims are set on full autonomy so we can witness how we would interact in the SimWorld.
I’m in House #5, with hoopty, Julie and PJay.
